I think I'm a bit spontaneous as an artist. When I get an idea for a piece, I usually just get started right away without much planning. I don't usually do thumbnail sketches beforehand unless I'm very unsure about my ability to draw something. It just feels like a waste of time to me since I often change my plan while I work. I add things, fix mistakes, and fill in any blanks as I go along rather than planning everything out beforehand. My medium of choice is pencil because it can be erased, but it's also my least favorite medium because it smudges so easily. I also like watercolor paints, but sometimes, I'll use multiple mediums for a piece.
Actually, over any physical medium, I prefer digital art. Many features make digital art so much easier to use and more convenient than other mediums, but it can sometimes be hard to create textures and blend shades digitally. I also feel that the standards for digital art are set higher than they are for art done with physical mediums. Nonetheless, I find digital art more fun, so I hope to improve my digital-arting skills.
